CLEANSING YOUR CRYSTALS

To keep dust free I have found using a clean dry paint brush, it really gets into the nooks and crevices of the stone and is not abrasive to the surface. There are many methods used by different crystal workers for cleansing and clearing their crystals of any negative or unwanted energies. Here are but a few.

WATER

Make sure the water is not too hot or cold, so that any natural cracks in the stones are not exacerbated. If you live near a river, stream or the ocean this is great but other wise tepid tap water will be just as good. Hold your stone under the water for a few moments, while concentrating on the energy of the crysal ask for all negative and un-harmonious vibrations be removed from the stone and that only those vibrations that are beneficial and positive remain. Gently dry your stone, it is now ready to use.

SMUDGING WITH INCENCE

Some crystals such as calcite, selenite and dioptase will crumble or cleave on contact with water. You should use incense to cleanse these stones. Sage and cedar are popular as are rosemary, frankincense, myrrh and sandalwood…all have cleansing properties. Surround your stones with the smoke from your incense, while asking for it to cleanse any negativity and to leave only these that are positive or beneficial for you at this time. They are now ready for you to use.

PLACING ON CLUSTERS

One way of cleansing your stones is to place them on a cluster either Amethyst or Clear Quartz are fine, they can even be used to house the crystals when not in use. Citrine is well known for its cleansing properties, Clear Quartz is great for helping your crystals build up its healing energies. Please remember to cleanse your clusters from time to time!

SUN AND MOON

Crystals really enjoy sitting in the sun or moon light. They will be rejuvenated and cleansed. Remember to keep water sensitive stones out of the rain; a window sill is fine for this method.

BURYING THEM IN THE EARTH

Bury your stones a couple of inches into the soil, remembering where it is (marking the spot with a brick or a painted rock can help) Place terminated crystals with their point down. Visualize cleansing and healing energies going into the stones. After a day or so unearth your stones, if they feel like they need more time simply repeat the process. This method is good when other methods have not been able to budge stubborn energies. Clean them by either brushing the dirt off or running under water, they are now ready to use.

SALT

Many people recommend placing your stones in rock salt or salt water for long periods of time. Before under going this method make sure your precious crystals are safe in water and remember that salt can have a devastating effect on the surface of some stones especially malachite and other polished stones or clusters.

VISUALIZATION

Visualize the crystal surrounded by violet or white light, dissolving any un harmonious energies. This can also be done by visualizing your out breath being violet or white then blow on the crystal to cleanse.
